Title: Web Developer

Position Description/Responsibilities:

 

Principal Responsibilities:

· Analyze, develop and deliver technology solutions to satisfy Equity Derivatives Sales’ requirements. Majority of the development will be in the  proprietary risk management and trading platform technology, SecDb, a proprietary OO database and scripting language used throughout Derivatives Trading as our critical risk management framework.

· Analyze, develop and deliver the Sales Strategy Desktop for Equity Derivatives Sales, e.g. integrate pricing flows from trading desks to our sales platforms, enhance front-end to enable sales to easily identify market opportunities, integrate with internal and external market data sources to our sales platform.

· Build relationships with other technology teams to leverage existing systems and processes where possible

· Build relationships with Sales, analysts and middle office to understand their business needs

· Perform design and code reviews for team members

Provide production support Convertible Bonds Sales issues and regression testing the supported systems. 

Title:Core Java Developer C# or C++

Position Description/Responsibilities:

The Securities Lending Technology unit of Equities is looking for a developer to work on a proprietary trading system that facilitates securities lending to cover client and firm short positions.  The successful candidate will be involved in the full lifecycle of system development as well as interacting directly with the business unit for requirements gathering and final product delivery.  The candidate will be responsible for delivering system solutions as well as work on enhancing and supporting existing infrastructure and code libraries.  The successful candidate should be proficient with following technologies/concepts:

  • Core Java:  The candidate should have solid understanding of core Java concepts and Design Patterns.
  • Distributed Systems using EJB and JMS:  The candidate should understand the complete lifecycle of local and distributed transactions and resource enlistment strategies.
  • Volume & Scalability:  The candidate should have a relevant experience working on real-time trade processing system while solving volume related technical challenges.
  • Clustered Deployment:  The candidate should understand pros and cons of clustered installation of J2EE containers as well as working knowledge of clustered environments.
  • Testing Framework:  The candidate should have a good understanding of principles behind test driven development and have hands on experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit.
  • Database Skills:  The candidate should be proficient with SQL, able to write and analyze complex queries with multi-table joins and aggregate functions.  The candidate should have experience with query optimization and be familiar with generating and analyzing query plans.  Prior experience with UDB or Sybase is a plus.
  • Good understanding and prior experience using Spring Framework is a plus.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility will be to understand Technology Financial Services’ (TFS) business and functional requirements and to help develop technical solutions to these.  In addition the candidate will be required to gain knowledge of the existing system and product lines in order to support the system and clients who use it.

This is a developer role and candidates would expect to spend much of their time on code development activities, working with the technology teams and technical architects globally.  However, the role also requires a significant amount of functional and technical analysis, working closely with the TFS user group in order to gather requirements and produce designs.  The remainder of the time would be spent on supporting new and existing applications.  In addition, candidates will be involved in first line user support.
