New Regulations on PTSD Claims
July 12, 2010
Quick Facts: This new rule is for Veterans of any era.
The new rule will apply to claims:
1) received by VA on or after July 13, 2010;
2) received before July 13, 2010 but not yet decided by a VA regional office;
3) appealed to the Board of Veterans' Appeals on or after July 13, 2010;
4) appealed to the Board before July 13, 2010, but not yet decided by the Board; and
5) pending before VA on or after July 13, 2010, because the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims vacated a Board decision and remanded for re-adjudication.

Help Available for Veterans in the Fairfax Area
Agents at the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) are fanning out across Northern Virginia to assist veterans with filing claims for state and federal veterans benefits. Visits are scheduled for the Loudon County Workforce Center, Middleburg Community Center, American Legion Post 177 in Fairfax, the VFW Post 7589 in Manassas as well as Dahlgren, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Leesburg, Stephens City, Warrenton, and Winchester. Agents also visit the Pentagon and Ft. Belvoir. Visits to these sites will be at least monthly and, in some cases, weekly.
